Keystone Farmworker Healthcare Program

Services: a program that gives referrals to other clinics for families, kids, women, and dental

Eligibility: must work in agriculture and be migrant

Cost: sliding scale model (reduced to free)

Family First Health

Services: medical (including school exams, immunizations, pregnancy, and STD treatment) and dental (including cleanings, x-rays, extractions, and dentures)

Address: Marshall’s Plaza- 1275 York Rd., Suite 17, Gettysburg, PA

Hours- Medical: Mon.-Thur. 8:30am-6pm; Fri. 8:30am-5pm

Hours- Dental: Mon.-Fri. 7:15am-4:30pm

Insurance: you don’t have to have medical insurance, there is a sliding-scale program

COVID-19: they offer calls through phone or with video for consultation

CHIP

What: medical insurance program for kids

Where: in all places where it is accepted

Contact: County Assistance Office- 717-334-6241

Apply: online, call 1-800-986-5437, or print and fill out an application from the website

Eligibility- kids: who reside legally in PA (regardless of immigration status of parents); are under 19; don’t have insurance and don’t qualify for Medicaid

Documents: Social Security Numbers and birthdays of child(children) applying; total household income before taxes (included from work, social security, pension, unemployment, and child support); child care costs (if any); your medical insurance information (if any or lost in last 90 days)

IMPORTANT NOTE!! CHIP does NOT count negatively in the Public Charge test. You can consult your lawyer, but this program does not count against your case


Medicaid (Medical Assistance or MA)

What: medical insurance for low-income people who are eligible

Where: in hospitals, clinics, specialists, and other offices that accept Medicaid (it is important to ask if they accept MA BEFORE getting treatment)

Contact: County Assistance Office- 717-334-6241

Apply: online, call 1-866-550-4355, or fill out a paper application in the County Assistance Office

Eligibility: whoever receives the benefits needs a social security number (can be a citizen or legal permanent resident); be low-income; have a disability, be pregnant, or have a child (or children) under 18; be a PA resident

How to use it: If you meet all requirements, you’ll receive a card to use like medical insurance

IMPORTANT NOTE!! Medicaid counts AGAINST someone in the Public Charge test, so it VERY IMPORTANT to talk to your immigration lawyer BEFORE applying for this benefit


Sterilis Needle Disposal Program

What: a safe way to dispose of sharps

Where: Bonneauville Fire Department- 10 Elm Ave., Gettysburg, PA 17325

When: every day, any time

How:

1-  Place needles in a heavy plastic container (no larger than 10 quarts, like a laundry detergent bottle)

2-  Open the red sharps kiosk door and place the  container into the kiosk (located in front of the Fire Department)

3-  Drop container into kiosk and shut the door. You are now finished.
